Veterans Day 2016 – “How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” —Maya Angelou

Happy Veterans Day

Thank you to all who have Served.

All of the Men and Women who have fought so valiantly to serve and protect this great Nation of ours. Past and Present.

I have always had the utmost respect for our Military.

I have at least one member of my family who has served in each branch.

Today, I salute my

Second Cousins, who were in the Air Force & Coast Guard.

Grandfather-in-Law and Second Cousin, who were in the Navy.

Godfather and Grandfather-in-Law, who were in the Marines.

Great Uncles, who were in the Army


Both my Grandfathers
who were in the Army,
my Husband
who still is.

I want to salute all those who are currently serving.

As I said, I have always had the utmost and highest respect for the Military.

But as an Army Girlfriend, Fiancée and now Wife,
my respect is that much greater.

We see our Military as War Heroes,
sacrificing their lives for our freedom.

But they’re sacrificing a lot more than that.

They’re sacrificing their time, energy and patience.

My Husband has had to put being a soldier first before a lot of his own wants and needs.
He doesn’t get to have a normal schedule or see his family every day or even every month.
We were Long Distance for the entire 4 years of our courtship.
When he was Infantry he didn’t even have the luxury of Indoor plumbing or a cushy bed for weeks at a time.

and not once did he complain about it.

I’ve met some incredible people over the last five years.
Our friend Manly right now is serving overseas.
She can’t see her friends or family for a year.
She can’t even have her dog with her.

She doesn’t complain, she’s proud to serve.

And we need to make sure we show them our gratitude and admiration.

Today is Veteran’s Day,
and being an Army Wife, I have a whole new perspective on what our Veterans had to go through.

May God Bless them and their Families.
Now and Always.

With that being said, I may be taking the President-Elect with a grain of salt, but that does not mean that I don’t love my country. The United States has been through far worse than this and we as a nation need to remember that
“United We Stand, Divided We Fall”.

We must remember to Honor and Support Our Troops, even when we don’t agree with the current administration.
